Make some money for your organization!

1. What do we wear?

For Hersheypark and Dutch Wonderland:

Please wear tan khaki shorts or tan khaki pants (no cargo or Capri pants), socks and comfortable shoes (no open toed shoes or sandals; sneakers are fine), and a solid colored polo shirt with no writing or logos on it.

For Chocolate World:

Please wear tan khaki pants only (no cargo or Capri pants), socks and comfortable shoes (no open toed shoes or sandals; sneakers fine), and a black polo shirt with no writing or logos on it. You may be required to change into one of our black polo shirts if necessary.

For Strasburg Railroad:

Blue Jeans (preferably painters jeans), a solid dark colored polo shirt, and shoes (no open toed shoes or sandals; sneakers or boots are fine). Please note that you are at a working railroad and may get sooty so do not wear your best clothes!

2. Where do we meet?

For Hersheypark:

Turn onto the service center drive located on Hersheypark Drive between the traffic lights at the park exit and turkey hill (there is a big white sign on Hersheypark drive that says Hersheypark Service Center). At the guard booth tell the officer that you are volunteering and they will direct you where to park. Once parked, continue down the service center drive until you see the employee cafeteria on your left. Kyle Fink or Seth Hollinger will meet you at the picnic tables on the patio outside the employee cafeteria. If there is no one there to meet you please be patient, it is a very busy time and we can sometimes get tied up. You will be paid at the time your shift was supposed to start regardless if we are late meeting you or not. Remember that this is tourist season and traffic can be very heavy so please allow yourself plenty of time to drive to Hersheypark, park your car, and walk to the picnic tables.

For Chocolate World:

Park in the regular Chocolate World customer parking lot and let the parking attendants know you are volunteering at the photo stands so they do not charge you for parking. Go inside the main entrance and cross the lobby under the balcony into the gift shop area. On your left you will see a central cash register/ checkout area. On the right side of this, across from the souvenir mugs, is our “Photo Pick-Up” counter. Walk up to this counter and let the employee know you are there to volunteer.

For Dutch Wonderland:

Park in the regular customer parking lot and meet right in front of the Castle Gift Shop.

For Strasburg Railroad:

Park in the regular customer parking lot and meet at our “Railroad Photo” stand located between the “Railroad Shop” and the restaurant.

3. What are our duties?

You will be working in one of our photo stands either running a simple register or assembling the photos. These tasks are very simple, no previous cash register or photography experience is required. In addition we require all volunteers to be courteous and polite to all of our customers; after all they are the ones supplying the money we donate towards you organization. In order to maintain a professional appearance, you will be required to stand for the length of your shift. We do not permit leaning or sitting on the counters .

4. Do we get a break?

This depends on the length of your shift. If you are working more than five hours you will receive a thirty minute break. You must take your break in the employee cafeteria. You may either pack your lunch or purchase food in the employee cafeteria. No food may be purchased inside Hersheypark during the length of your shift.

5. Is there an age limit?

Due to child labor laws we are not permitted to allow anyone under the age of 14 to work for us. Children under the age of 14 will not be permitted in the work area. Please make other arrangements for younger children. GTP is requiring all volunteers under 18 to comply with Child Labor Laws.

6. May we cancel a shift once we signed up?

This may be done only in emergency situations. Once you have signed up we hold that shift for you. If you do not show up that leaves us short a person and sometimes we have to close a stand which results in a great loss for us. If there is an emergency please give us as much notice as possible. If you do not show up for a shift without sufficient notice we reserve the right to cancel your volunteering privileges. Please treat this as you would any other job.

7. When and where do we get paid?

Payment is made approximately every month directly to your organization.
